Welcome to the Elf Haus: Your Luxury Mountain Escape in Fairplay, Colorado

Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the Elf Haus is more than just a getaway; it’s an experience. As an A-frame luxury retreat in Fairplay, Colorado, we poured our hearts and souls into every inch of this home to make it an upscale mountain escape that guests fall in love with at first sight. Since going live earlier this year, we’ve been overwhelmed by the number of bookings and positive response from our guests, and we’re excited to share a glimpse of what makes the Elf Haus so special.

Our Journey: From Vision to Reality

We are Amy and Rob, a couple with a dream of creating a space that captures the magic of the mountains. What started as a fun, side project turned into a labor of love, with meticulous attention to detail to ensure every aspect of the Elf Haus exudes luxury and comfort. We wanted to focus on quality over quantity, providing a unique and unforgettable experience for each of our guests. We run the Elf Haus in addition to our full time jobs; it isn't a factory for us and we take our responsibility to you, to provide the best experience possible, very serious. We are actively involved in the day-to-day operations and are up at the house as frequently as we can be. We're real people over here :D

Long before we started the renovation project and before the Elf Haus was available for guest stays, we immersed ourselves in YouTube channels of A-Frames, Airbnb properties, and Hosting channels. That all started during the quarantine of 2020 when there wasn't a whole lot else to do. We've joined some invaluable groups on Facebook and have learned an incredible amount of how to be successful not only in the renovation (although, much of that we feel like was learned the hard way, during the job....oof!) but also how to be exceptional hosts.

Rob's background in software development - along with an extremely talented artist mother and sister - helped him sketch out some amazing design ideas (yes...most of the interior design was done by Rob, along with the interior designer we hired). Amy's background in Professional Services and attention to detail, along with her extensive work travel experience, has helped with getting all the finer details pinned down and identify what makes for a valuable and sought after stay. Neither of us are done, however. Rob still has some cool design ideas; some of which Amy still needs to be sold on... and Amy is constantly looking for areas for improvement and fine tuning the guest experience.

Speaking of updates, we have been busy these past couple days, between guests, knocking out some little projects (exterior landscaping & having a mural painted inside). The mural was just finished and looks fantastic! If you haven't yet seen it on our Instagram page, check it out...we're kind of in love with it! We'll see if the exterior projects go as quickly as the mural did...we may have to break that work up between different days this summer.
